  • This year Josh is setting a high standard in preparing his chosen steer for the Show; he is determined not to come second to Peter Bennett this time. In Eddie’s opinion Bennett’s entry is not up to last year’s standard but there is bloke from Worcester with a nice looking Hereford; he is the one to beat. Eddie is right and David gets only a second – again.
  • Lynda and Emma are delighted with their Appetising Ambridge which is back from the printer; now they have to bind them and Robert has lent them a coil binder to do the job. Later, when she delivers the first batch to the village shop, William is on hand to help get them out of the car but he can’t be persuaded to buy one just now.
  • Eddie and Ed are out shooting rabbits, if they can find any; Eddie thought it would take Ed’s mind off his problems. In the gathering gloom, William is out too with his dogs; young Bas takes off after a hare and … knowing what Ed thinks about dogs on his land, you can guess what happens next. When Will discovers that his dog has been shot he is not receptive to Ed’s protestations that it was an accident and it is as much as Eddie can do to keep his sons apart. Will, whose opinion of his brother is pretty low at the best of times, will not forget this – ever!
