Josh wants to go into business. Roy and Hayley offer Brenda sanctuary.

Radio Times: Hayley and Roy come up trumps, and Josh has a proposition.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Roy and Hayley discuss the break-up of Tom and Brenda. Hayley is happy for Brenda to stay with them as long as she needs to; Abbie and Phoebe can share a room. They muse on Brenda’s decision not to have children; she is so fond of her nieces and half-sister. Hayley is concerned that Roy’s loyalties will be divided, but he insists his loyalty will be to his sister. Hayley just wants to look after Brenda, and tells Roy to ring and tell her she can move in immediately.
  • As she waits for the school bus, Nic meets Clarrie, and tells her about the way Emma received Nic’s news of a new baby. Clarrie does her best to brush Nic’s concerns aside, but her excuses for Emma lack conviction.
  • Neil is annoyed because Darrell has let him down for the darts team. He will have to ask Ed to play instead. Meanwhile he is intrigued by Josh’s having asked for a meeting with Neil and Hayley. Does he want a pay-rise?
  • Josh arrives and wastes no time in telling Neil and Hayley that he has been speaking to Phoebe, who told him Neil and Hayley were thinking of getting out of egg production. Josh wants to buy them out. The startled pair tell him they need time to think about the idea. They can’t see how someone still at school could manage the marketing and deliveries. But like Ambridge’s other entrepreneurial offspring, Josh has all the answers: he has done the research, he has money saved, and he has great business ideas. Neil and Hayley tell him they will think it over and give him an answer in a couple of days. But it seems that they will need to let him down gently.
