Kate having done nothing, Alice decides to take over as assistant panto director.
Radio Times: Helen doubts her actions, and Kate delegates all responsibility.
Characters: Alice, Helen, Ian, Kate, Pat- Helen is back from seeing her solicitor about the divorce. It was as expected, though the hardest part was choosing which coercive behaviour to put down. It’s a relief to have it under way but Helen has learnt that Rob has applied to the court to change Jack’s name. It has little chance of success. Helen is now worrying about the cost of all this legal work, Rob having cleared out the bank account. Should she delay filing for divorce? Pat’s advice is to get him out of her life as soon as she can; she tells Helen about their plan to extend the mortgage to cover all the legal fees. Tom is fine with it too.
- Although Kate is supposed to be Lynda’s assistant, Alice seems to be doing most of the work casting the panto but she wants Kate to approach Lilian.
- Meeting Ian in the Country Park, Helen insists on talking about Ian’s issues rather than her own. Adam has been back a fortnight but things don’t feel right. Perhaps they should take up Jennifer’s suggestion about counselling: Ian has been blaming Adam but what about his own part; did he suspect; was he in denial? He really needs to have this conversation with Adam.
- Kate has run into black-eyed Toby; Pip has told her he got kicked in a scrum. Phoebe has told her that Roy is getting on with dating. But what Alice really wants to know is whether she has spoken to Lilian. Actually, no. At least Lynda has been in touch with a decision about the panto: Mother Goose. Kate has more excuses why she can’t do the casting but promises to do her bit later. Oh, no she won’t; Alice will do it on her own.
