Kenton demonstrates a lack of tact. Lynda demonstrates a literary streak. Facebook gets two plugs.

  • In the shop, Kathy tells Jill she is not optimistic about finding another job to match the one she has just left. Kenton arrives, and with a breath-taking lack of sensitivity, asks firstly Jill how the wedding cake is coming on, then Kathy if she knows what plans Jamie has for the stag night. Kathy’s response is noticeably cool.
  • Kathy goes for a swim and asks to see Caroline. The loo in the ladies is blocked, but Lynda will sort the problem out. Caroline is far too stressed.
  • As it is Jill’s birthday, not only Kenton but Shula and David wish her happy birthday, but tonight she will be at Lynda’s meeting about the Christmas show – an evening of Jane Austen. Kenton is aghast but agrees to come to the meeting. Kenton tells Shula about the incident with Darrell in The Bull. They agree that he desperately needs help.
  • Jill is first at Lynda’s meeting, joined by Kenton, who loses no time in telling Lynda how dull her idea is. Jill suggests a traditional pantomime, but as usual Lynda dismisses all criticism. Jane Austen’s ‘exquisite apercu’ is what Lynda wishes to convey by means of readings, food of the period and Regency dances. Just as Kenton launches into his views on the proposal the doorbell rings and the rest of the committee arrive.
