Kenton is uneasy about Alistair’s support of Ryan – but can’t put his finger on why.

• Before the GA meeting, Ryan and Alistair meet for a drink to celebrate Ryan’s new job, achieved with the help of Alistair’s reference. Ryan has not been near the bookies for a week and having looked into the abyss is determined not to blow this second chance.
• Jazzer is a late customer at Jaxx. As well as food, Kenton serves up some advice on wooing the fair Hannah. Maybe she is insecure and wants to feel valued; Jazzer will give her one more chance!
• Over their anniversary dinner, Ruth and David reflect on twenty good years. David is a bit worried about the time he is committing to outside activities – the PCC and now the NFU. If this proves to give too much extra work for Ruth he will give them up. He wouldn’t miss telling the likes of Mrs Noakes that she cannot have security cameras to catch careless turning motorists.
• At the GA meeting, Ryan had stood up and declared his resolve. Afterwards he and Alistair bump into Kenton who thinks they have met before but can’t think where. When Ryan has gone, indecently quickly, Kenton criticises Alistair for providing a reference when he knows almost nothing about the guy. Kenton is worried about Shula too and wonders whether faith is worth having, since it can bring so much trouble.
