  • While Lynda witters on about the Christmas pageant, she doesn’t notice that Roy barely grunts in acknowledgement. Kathy passes by to announce that she has becalmed Ian about a large dinner booking. Lynda comments on the postcard from Caroline and Oliver; however, Kathy and Roy are focused on business, including the surprise candidate for the position of Health Club manager – Kirsty.
  • Rex is late to help his brother with the geese; Toby complains bitterly but Rex retorts that now Toby has an idea of what it is like to be left on his own. Rex clearly has a way with the geese and he soon has them rounded up. Rex proudly announces to his brother that he has sold 50 geese to Elizabeth Pargetter but Toby has to break the news that Grey Gables has a no competition clause within 10 miles. He forgot to mention that to Rex and Rex insists that Toby go to Grey Gables to try and sort out his mistake.
  • Kirsty shows up to interview with Kathy for the job of Health Club manager. Toby then arrives to talk to Ian. Ian is too busy but Toby is adamant after flirting with Kirsty. Kathy intervenes and says she will talk to Ian at a more convenient time. Kirsty tells Kathy and Roy at her interview that she really relishes the challenges of this job; she also wants a full-time position with more responsibility.
  • Kathy catches Toby before he leaves and just as Rex arrives to see how things are going. Kathy tells them both that Ian will agree to releasing the Fairbrothers from the exclusivity clause but Ian wants a 15% discount. Toby baulks but Kathy notes that it is non-negotiable; how do they know the Fairbrothers won’t let them down again? Rex agrees to the discount even though Toby clearly does not want to.
  • Kirsty meets Lynda again on her way out after the interview. Kirsty feels she was too keen and may not have enough experience. Lynda is positive but asks if she doesn’t feel strange. They trade news including a question about Tom. Before Lynda can answer, Kirsty gets a call from Roy. The job is hers!
