Lilian continues to worry about Justin’s vindictive plan for Matt and Alice saves Adam’s day by offering to drive one of the tractors

Radio Times: Justin’s mind is made up; Alive recruits Pip

Characters: Adam, Alice, Brian, Jennifer, Justin, Lilian

• Lilian explains the interactions between Justin and Matt. Lilian points out she is caught in the crossfire between the two big egos. Lilian is worried that Justin can be extremely ruthless. Alice pops in to spread the gossip about the Grange Farm debacle when Oliver visited.
• Brian and Justin talk about Justin’s role in destroying Matt’s attempt to raise money. Justin confides that he is going to get Matt fired. Brian worries about possible revenge and suggests simply shrugging off the insults. No, Justin wants him on the first plane back to Costa Rica. Adam comes to share the wine but he is worried about being down two drivers. He tries to interest Brian or Justin with no takers.
• Jennifer calls Shula to find out the truth about Oliver. Oliver is mortified that he lost his temper; it was the shock. Caroline’s memorial will not be religious or in church. It is to be at Grey Gables but not in the room where they married because it is already booked. Lilian’s bad temper is evident as she grouses about every arrangement. Jennifer suggests she take another bottle of Chablis out to the men.
• At the table, Alice volunteers to drive for Adam; she is off work for a few days. She doesn’t mind pitching in. What about Pip? Adam hesitantly mentions that Pip isn’t his favourite partner these days; he is still irritated because Pip dropped out of the herbal leys project. There are some smiles at Jill’s expense as her radical causes are listed. Ruby the puppy continues to charm everyone even at the lunch table. Then Alice gets a text from Pip; Adam is saved because Pip agrees to drive with Alice.
• On the way home, Ruby continues to make Justin and Lilian smile although they do discuss the looming subject of Matt. Justin brings up his plan to get Matt fired. Lilian comments that Matt is just trying to rebuild his life but Justin wants him to rebuild elsewhere. Lilian objects that Matt won’t be able to repay the money he owes her if he is sent back to Costa Rica. Justin points out Lilian doesn’t need the money now she has Justin as a partner. Isn’t it worth getting that wretched man out of their lives once and for all?
