  • As is often the way with teenagers, it’s hard to get a word in edgeways but Kenton does eventually manage to tell Meriel his news. Awesome! Of course they couldn’t get married without Meriel being there, though the date hasn’t been fixed yet. She wants to be a bridesmaid; she really, really does. How could he say no? Fortunately Jolene agrees, though the purple dress that Meriel favours might be going too far.
  • Amongst the chat at Brookfield, David reports that Lower Loxley didn’t win any prizes at the vintners’ show, but Elizabeth picked up some good orders. David went to The Bull after nets yesterday; Rob was there with a face like a wet weekend. (That’s odd, since his dear wife is coming at the weekend.)
  • Lilian admires the ring and is let into the secret that Jolene was able to choose so quickly because she had done her homework on the web first; no need to tell Kenton that. She tells Jolene that she is worried about Matt, who is now not responding to the messages she has left, saying sorry about the row they had. Has he got money to live and eat? Running Amside is a lot harder without him too.
  • Lilian leaves yet another message for Matt: she will send him a new card but she needs to know where he is staying. Please call her.
