Radio Times: Christmas Eve arrives in Ambridge and as the locals celebrate, Lynda is just grateful for what she has.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Lynda had an issue with Constanza which almost made the family late for services. James had to stay behind to calm Mungo and put him to bed. Despite the chaos, Lynda performs the reading for services beautifully.
  • Pip and Matt are clowning around when interrupted by a dour David. He sends Matthew off with barely a Christmas wish. Pip, however, has more in mind. She gives Matt a lovely gift but tells him not to open it until Christmas. Matt declares he has nothing for her but he asks Pip to come closer until she is standing under the mistletoe. Fade microphone.
  • Alan, Lynda and Clarrie have a nice conversation after services and Clarrie mentions she is happy for a place to live. Even though she is cooking goose for tomorrow, she is very thankful for the blessings bestowed upon the Grundys. Lynda notes sadly that some things lost can never be replaced but she is grateful for all her blessings.
  • Pip and David have a conversation although it starts with a happy and joyous Pip whose every word is countered by a morose David. Pip declares that she can work out the dairy herd and make them pay; without them there would be no job for her. David needs to talk to Ruth but Pip says they can’t retain the herd only to keep her on the farm. She understands the economics of agriculture, after all.
  • Leonie has checked on Mungo and James and found them both down for the evening; she and Lynda finish the tree and gifts. Leonie compliments Lynda on her way with Mungo. Lynda expresses sorrow for her lost opportunities to have her own family. Maybe she wouldn’t have to throw herself into these amateur productions had she been able to have her own children. Leonie declares Lynda is a wonderful grandma and a good friend with a full and productive life. They hear a whimpering by the front gate. Could it be? Tears and cries. Scruff has come home!
