- Emma talks to Joe who is elated that he didn’t have to spend David’s money because Bert bought him a birthday drink. Tony and Ed join them. Emma asks if there is any chance that the ceremony can go forward. No, all is destroyed.
- Joe tries to give his birthday money to Ed in part to acknowledge his regret that Joe and Eddie weren’t able to help the young Ed get a better start in life. Joe stipulates that Ed is to use the money only for himself and not spend it on his family. Later, Tony approaches Joe and compliments him on his relationship with Ed. Tony admires that and reminds Joe of the successes in his life in spite of his regrets.
