  • The pension plan is sorted – a compromise between the best return and ethical investments. There will only be £25k left, which is not enough for a tractor. Now they have to tell Tom.
  • Martyn has now found out of date stock in kitchen, staff caught eating a dessert that had been dropped and he is appalled at the wasted beer every time they change a barrel. He and Kathy must talk – over yet another drink on the tab.
  • Telling Tom turns out to be less painful than they thought: he is disappointed but he understands, and it does make sense to invest in the dairy. He turns down Tony’s suggestion to keep Tony and Henry company because he is going out with Kirsty, to thank her for her help. Where’s Helen? Out with a friend apparently.
  • As they order their curry, Kirsty learns that Helen is out. Did she say who with? Tom insists that there be no talk of ready meals. Kirsty sounds him out about bringing a small group of kids to Bridge Farm to see the wetland scheme. She plucks up courage to tell him that Brenda is back, in London, and that she has a new boyfriend, a Russian. She thought Tom should know before he hears it from someone else. Good for Brenda; it was bound to happen. Tom just hopes she is happy.
  • Kathy confesses that she is a bit upset about Jamie being Kenton’s best man, though she knows she should be over Kenton by now. It is good that he has kept the relationship with Jamie going. Oh no, the odious Martyn is at Richard III and not enjoying the play, so he insists on spoiling Kathy’s weekend by demanding a stock control report by Monday morning. Yes, Martyn.
