Nic has an idea that will give George his troll scarecrow and William several brownie points.
Radio Times: Nic shows she cares and Kirsty brings welcome news.
Characters: Clarrie, Kirsty, Nic, Pat, Susan, William- When they meet outside the shop, Clarrie is able to report to Nic that she is much better now that the effect of Eddie’s dodgy barbecued sausages has passed off. Clarrie also has news of Jamie and says what a shame it is that Ed and Emma have no time to make a troll scarecrow for George.
- Kirsty calls at Bridge Farm with the results of Patrick’s bird survey of the wetland scheme; he found 22 species; Pat is thrilled. Kirsty suggests doing it again at the end of the breeding season. While she is there, Kirsty seeks out Tom to order extra lettuce for the shop but she needs to tread carefully: he has had a disturbed night again, thanks to his noisy neighbour.
- In the dairy, Susan and Clarrie are busy making ice cream for the Edgeley gymkhana. Susan has been shopping, not entirely successfully, for an outfit to wear at the christening and at Lynda Snell’s do too. She wishes that Emma would get a move on and organise some godparents.
- Out in the woods nothing stirs; that’s because William is having a snooze, but then he did have a very early start. Nic teases him about it when she brings a treat of posh cakes and fresh coffee – what a star she is! She has had the idea that she and Will could build a troll scarecrow for George at Casa Nueva; they could all be involved, Jake and Mia too. William is all for it, though whether because George will love it or because it will be one in the eye for his brother is left an exercise for the reader.
