Radio Times: Jennifer has a fight on her hands

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Brian is clearly depressed. Adam agrees with him that he should resign the Chairmanship. Jennifer says they may not be trying to oust him but he is convinced they will.
  • At church, Will tries to convince Clarrie that everything is Emma’s fault. Things are awkward when Nic and Susan arrive. Susan is clearly trying to stand up for Emma and Fallon. It upsets Nic but Will tells her it will all blow over.
  • Jennifer isn’t giving up complaining for Lent, not when she feels so resentful. Peggy is shocked to hear that Brian is planning to resign. The contamination is nothing to do with him. Susan asks Jennifer if she has signed up for the challenge. She thinks Alan was saying that if you weren’t happy with your life you have to change it. She’s already sent out her CV. She is sick of being taken advantage of. The only person holding her back now is herself. With Neil the way she is, something has to change.
  • Jennifer and Peggy try to convince Will to come to church again. He’d only turned up because George was doing the reading. Meanwhile Nic has missed a call from Jolene. She is convinced she is going to be sacked though Will thinks otherwise.
  • Peggy is still furious about the impact Matt’s swindling has had on Christine. Peggy wants her to know that she will always have someone to look after her. That is why Peggy doesn’t understand why Brian is falling on his sword. By resigning he is as good as admitting liability. They shouldn’t have to throw their reputation away. Peggy says the same to Brian and Jennifer support her. He hasn’t done anything wrong. He has made a fortune for BL and he should stand his ground. They owe him their loyalty. If they still vote to dismiss him then it will be on their conscience, not his. He has 5 days to win their support.
  • Nic does call Jolene and they have sacked her. Will is shocked. Jolene apparently pretended it was because The Bull was quiet in February though that is obviously not true with Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day. Will tells her that the money doesn’t matter and the kids will be pleased to see her more. Nic says it is a kind thing to say but the job made her feel she had a purpose and now that’s gone.
