Nigel plans to expand. Brian plans to contract.
Radio Times: Nigel tests Lizzie’s principles.
Characters: Adam, Brenda, Brian, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Nigel, Tom- Brian tells Jenny that Debbie will be home for a few days on Thursday, and that she intends to discuss contracting out the arable. Jenny is not enthusiastic, and tries to promote Adam’s cause. Brian tries some emotional blackmail; if Jenny wants her ‘place in the sun’, she’ll have to be realistic about downsizing the farm.
- Now that the contractors are ready to start repairing the damage, Nigel is full of Green ideas; he wants to stock more organic produce, and even to have green weddings and conferences. Lizzie is somewhat sceptical, but is won over by Nigel’s enthusiasm, and agrees to consider his ideas.
- Despite having a major assignment to finish, Brenda can’t wait to start redecorating the love nest. Tom says he’s too busy, but the thought of spending the afternoon with Brenda makes invoices and pig arks seem rather less attractive, so they buy the paint and start work.
- Adam puts his proposals for more polytunnels and a wider range of fruit to Brian. Initially, Brian is impressed, but won’t accept Adam’s projected figures. Brian then mentions the plan to buy a holiday home, and Adam realises that Debbie is part of the plan to sideline him. He storms out.
- Adam calls at the holiday cottage and offers to help Tom and Brenda with the painting. He’s glad to escape from Home Farm; he’s just had enough.
