Pancake races over, Lilian and Eddie face abstinence for Lent.

Radio Times: Pancake Day falls flat for Lilian and Eddie.

Characters: , , , , , , ,
  • Eddie seizes an opportunity, on his way to the milking parlour, to volunteer for the odd lambing shift. Bert has first refusal although David has told him that for a while any progress on the Massey tractor will be down to him: David feels the need to get his priorities right.
  • At The Bull the pancake races are in full swing in aid of cricket club funds: 22 yards, then the adults toss a pancake on their cricket bats and race 22 yards back. It is well supported by the team – but not Christopher Carter: he is off somewhere with his posh girlfriend.
  • Fallon is persuaded to enter but drops her pancake; the lovely Sabrina is the winner. Victory in the men’s race goes to newcomer Stuart Graham. David is not sure he can make net practice at Edgbaston but Ruth volunteers to do the odd lambing shift; indeed it would be nice to do a shift together.
  • Lent starts tomorrow and Fallon is giving up chocolate. In a rash moment Eddie challenges Lilian to give up alcohol and ends up having to agree to do it too. Fifty pounds to the Church fund from whoever weakens first. Fortunately, Lent does not start tonight, so Lilian intends to drink and be merry.
