Phoebe has some tough choices to make. Just why has Toby had to alter his plans so quickly? Will Jenny’s soiree pass off as planned?
Radio Times: Jennifer has a party to organise, and Phoebe faces a dilemma.
Characters: Charlie, Helen, Jennifer, Phoebe, Rex, Toby- Jenny meets Charlie at the Tea Room. Despite his protests, she insists on throwing a leaving party for him at Home Farm on Friday. She promises not to mention Berrow Farm’s closure until after their announcement tomorrow. Spying Helen, she invites her and Rob. She agrees to check with Rob but as Charlie leaves, admits that it might be awkward, given the manner of Rob’s departure from Berrow. Jenny rushes off to meet Phoebe, passing comment about how pale Helen looks!
- Over lunch in the Tea Room, Rex and Toby celebrate two further years at Hollowtree. Rex hopes wistfully to see more of Pip. Charlie arrives and Toby floats his latest idea of pasture fed eggs. When pushed for his opinion, Charlie fears that it smacks of faddishness but says that it’s the Fairbrothers call. He’s not sure if he will go to the Wassail and wanders off to get his own lunch, leaving Toby to ponder that he’s no fun at all.
- Phoebe is distraught that Alex feels that if she pursues her Oxford application, their relationship must end. He feels that she will only have time for her “posh” new friends. Jenny offers sympathy and says that she should try and talk it through with Hayley and Kate. Phoebe bursts into tears; she just can’t bear the thought of losing him. Oh dear.
- Toby is still pushing his idea of premium eggs as Rex buys cheese in the farm shop. His conversation with Helen is cut short dramatically by Toby after he receives a text message. Outside Toby insists that he has to visit Brighton urgently and he needs £500 in cash. Rex says that they must talk this through; things just can’t go on as they are. Toby must sort himself out.
- At Home Farm, Jennifer tries her best to ensure that Phoebe doesn’t give up on Oxford. As far as she’s concerned, Oxford is full of teenagers just like her, trying to do their very best. Phoebe sounds unconvinced saying that she hates to have to make the choice. Jenny extracts a promise that she will speak to her parents before making a decision. She urges her not to throw away the chance of a lifetime.
