Radio Times: Ruth tries a distraction technique and Pip has intriguing news.

• All work and no play is not good for David, says Ruth; she manages to drag him away from farm admin for half an hour. Out in the sunshine, it looks as if they will be cutting for silage in three weeks; she suggests an evening out before the silage work starts but David fobs her off – maybe afterwards. She also reports a conversation with Alistair, who is missing his star cricket player, but David shows no sign of changing his mind.
• Jolene is still keeping off the fags but at a cost – sweets. She suggests a walk up Lakey Hill to burn off a few calories; the pace is a bit hot for Kenton. She is relieved that Jamie has moved back home, though Kenton does not believe that his intervention did the trick. She has received a text from Jamie confirming his shifts next weekend, so clearly his exams are not getting the highest priority.
• Pip has had a partially successful shopping trip which she reports in detail, then casually drops the information that ‘someone’ will be coming to pick her up on Thursday. His name is Spencer and he is her new boyfriend; would they like to meet him when he comes? Ruth is keen; David is lukewarm – par for the course at the moment.
