• Ruth helps David to weigh the lambs, and they’re surprised to see Pip home early from college. She’s been to see her tutor, but isn’t keen to talk about what ensued. She wants to talk to them later.
• Lilian calls on Pat to replenish the Bull’s ice cream stocks and to escape Freda, who is being difficult in Jolene’s absence, thanks to Neville Booth. They discuss Kathy, and think it must be very hard for her with Kenton so busy at Jaxx and Jamie shutting himself away. Lilian mentions Amside Property Holdings and their new appointee. Pat is flabbergasted; Tom hasn’t said a word. Lilian is dismissive of Brenda’s abilities, and Pat is very quick to defend her.
• Pip has indeed been to see her tutor, and has come to a decision; college is a waste of time, she’s learning nothing and she’s going travelling. Ruth has to calm David down while she tries to reason with Pip. Arguments are useless, however. Pip admits that she missed one exam and messed up another. Not only that; Jude’s dropped out too and she’s going to go travelling with him. David is apoplectic by this time, especially when Pip says she doesn’t even know where they’re going. Ruth suggests that they all go to see the tutor and sort things out. It’s no good, says Pip. I’ve already left.
