Pip turns down Toby’s invitation to be the voice of his film. Tony let’s Rob have his wish.

Radio Times: Phoebe finds solace and Toby pulls out all the stops.

  • Having declared an interest in seeing Pip’s mob-grazing venture, Alice meets up with Pip. She couldn’t help observing yesterday that Rex fancies Pip rotten. No! Oh yes.
  • It makes Pat’s blood boil to see Rob featured prominently in the press at the Queen’s birthday picnic. Toby is more pragmatic: he thinks they should show willing and let Rob have his way over Sunday. Instead they can drive up to see their new grandson. Pat is persuaded. Tony phones Rob and agrees to have Henry the following Friday.
  • Alice has a present for Phoebe and finds her clearing up after Lilian and Kate. Leave it and let them fend for themselves. She scoops Phoebe up for an afternoon of peace and quiet at her cottage; she can stay for supper too. Phoebe is cross that her mother has issued an open invitation on Facebook for a solstice event. Kate is also planning the launch of Spiritual Home; it’s an all-night event and, Kate not being a business woman, she will be manic for the next two weeks trying to get ready for it.
  • Pip thinks whatever Toby is cooking smells good. Bert did not chance it: he has gone to the pub. Toby insists that Pip’s wonderful voice would be much better for voiceover than his. Pip is less confident that her tones are dulcet and is not impressed with the film. It looks as if Brookfield is totally devoted to eggs and geese. He has had massive help from her parents and he has shot the film on their land without even discussing it. Brookfield is a thriving and varied food producer with an excellent website. If he had been cleverer he would have tapped into that infrastructure. That’ll be a no, then!
