• Pip is all alone, unable to reach Toby by phone, when Rex arrives at Brookfield. The contractions are getting stronger. Rex, as always, is sensible and practical, and whisks her off to the hospital.
• At the hospital, Toby rushes in, just in time, and Rex hands over to Toby to keep Pip company. Ruth tells her that the baby is coming now and to break Toby’s hand is she needs to.
• Rex stayed all night at the hospital while Pip had a caesarean and a blood transfusion. Toby tells him that he is now a father, he can hardly believe it.
• Phoebe teases Lily about chatting up barmen, and Elizabeth hints that this is not really lily’s ‘thing’. Lily finally tells Phoebe that she is in a relationship, with Meredith..
• Pip is so pleased that Rex stayed the night while she was in labour. He’s very happy to hold his niece, Pip thinks he is a natural. Toby returns, having informed Robin that he is now a grandfather.
