Radio Times: David has hit a dead end, and Rob has an idea.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Charlie stops by to discuss the blocked culvert with David. Charlie emphasizes that he wants to get to the bottom of the issue. Stephan has been released by Rob because of family problems. Charlie declares this seems to be the end of it.
  • Rob goes home for lunch and he tells Helen that he has been invited to join the cricket team. He has accepted and seems to think he will turn the team around single-handed. Helen is expecting an offer on the shop but she wants to enjoy lunch with Rob before she calls the agent.
  • Shula and Ruth discuss the open farm weekend and Jill wants to do all the cooking herself. Shula offers to make a few cakes to save Jill from doing too much. Shula suggests to Ruth that she and David join the family and chip in to buy a new television to replace the broken one in The Bull. Ruth isn’t sure that Kenton would appreciate their contribution.
  • Charlie is a bit sharp with Rob about contacting Stephan. Rob is emphatic that Stephan will only speak to him and he won’t even give out Stephan’s contact number. Charlie seems sceptical and declares he wants an answer very soon. Charlie then turns the conversation to the open farm Sunday; Rob assumes he will be the spokesperson but Charlie wants someone local. Rob is disparaging but his opinions are ignored.
  • When Helen arrives home, Rob is already there. His great new idea is to have Helen give the narration for the open farm day; he mentions that this will put him back in Charlie’s good books. Will Helen publicly defend BL’s big farming concerns to please Rob? If Helen agrees, how will Pat and Tony recover from this betrayal of their deeply held organic principles by their own daughter?
  • Shula tells Ruth that Auntie Christine doesn’t really want to return to Woodbine Cottage. She is reluctant to even go to see what state it is in. Shula intends to persuade her to return this week. David is happy to contribute to the large television for The Bull as long as he can keep Kenton at arm’s length. Josh is researching the best deal online and is looking for one with all the latest bells and whistles. Shula expresses the hope that this gift from the family will begin to heal the bad feelings between Kenton and David.
