Charlie investigates the possible deliberate blocking of the culvert and Rob wins the Single Wicket.

Radio Times: It is the annual Single Wicket, and Charlie needs information.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Charlie investigates the rumours of the deliberately blocked ditch. He interviews all employees and grills Rob about the inclusion of every worker.
  • Tom briefs Kenton about the Single Wicket. Kenton pours scorn upon David for purposely avoiding the match since Kenton will be announcing. Toby is up against the winner of the match between Eddie Grundy and Pip Archer. And Kate is scheduled to play Phoebe.
  • Charlie finds that no one knows about the deliberately blocked culvert. Rob has let one of the Polish workers go before Charlie could interview him. Rob thought it best to act fast because this worker had pressing family issues. Rob continues to belittle any truth behind the rumours but Charlie is determined to get to the bottom of the issue.
  • Adam chats with Jolene while he is waiting for his match against Rob. Rob is late because of his talk with Charlie but he turns up just in time. Rob comes out on top and Adam is a bit caustic with his comments. Phoebe also managed to knock out her mum Kate.
  • Tom thanks Kenton and Jolene for their hard work. The finalists turn out to be Rob and Toby Fairbrother. Rob is the Single Wicket champion.
  • Adam and Charlie discuss Rob’s character briefly; neither man is particularly positive about Rob. Adam leaves before the celebrations but Rob is encouraged by the crowd to drink out of the winner’s cup. Rob seems to be the hero of the moment and all seems bright for him in the village.
