Radio Times: Phoebe and Josh have all the clues, and Tom gets recruiting.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Tom and Shula discuss the cricket trophy. Shula waxes nostalgic about Daniel and his athletic talent; he will be sorely missed. Alistair, too, is unable to participate in the Single Wicket because he will be out making contacts for his veterinary practice. Tom searches for members from the older generation to participate but so far, no success.
  • Josh and Phoebe try to organize a treasure hunt with rhymed clues for the Young Farmers’ Club. They are missing Jennifer’s experience but Phoebe notes that her Gran’s clues tend to refer to ‘history and literature and stuff’; everyone knows the young farmers don’t read!
  • David and Shula talk about David’s breach with Kenton and Jolene. David is absenting himself from the cricket match to avoid Kenton’s barbs since he is the announcer. Ruth tells Shula that Eddie is soon to take a new job rebuilding an old pub. The Archers will miss his work on Brookfield Farm. Surprisingly, Tom reveals that Kate and Toby Fairbrother are up for the Single Wicket. The listener hopes that Toby knows how to wield his bat in a defensive manner.
  • David and Ruth note that Pip is dressed a bit smart and she claims she is going for a run to clear her head. Pip passes Josh and Phoebe who are still working on the clues. They have about half the clues and Pip recommends that they ask Toby Fairbrother. So that’s what this fitness craze is all about, Josh muses. Pip claims that she is only suggesting a way for the brothers to get to meet people.
  • Tom informs Josh and Phoebe that Kate will participate in the Single Wicket. Phoebe is incredulous and exclaims that her mother doesn’t even know how to hold a bat. Is it possible that Kate has an underlying motive?
