Rob is back only to declare that it’s all over between him and Helen.

• As well as can be expected; that’s how Rob describes his state. He is back in Ambridge for a few days but will then be going south again for the funeral. Meanwhile he has to see Helen. A walk would be nice, so they agree on the Country Park. Helen has missed him terribly.
• Caroline is drafting an advert for the Health Centre Manager job; pity Kathy won’t apply. The postal delivery brings the news that Joe has turned down their offer; he wants £5000. Oliver is convinced that they will settle eventually.
• Alistair has been called to Grange Farm again, for another aborted calf. He urges Mike not to jump to conclusions. Concerned that Rosa is quite down, Mike enquires about Darrell; he didn’t return to The Stables last night so Alistair cannot enlighten him.
• Oliver is trying to interest a few riders in hunting tomorrow but, when he calls into the shop, Alistair has to inform him that Shula is likely to be busy. Anyway she is preoccupied with Darrell.
• There’s quite a view from the Country Park, but Rob can’t enjoy it. He has something on his mind and needs to talk to Helen. He cares for her very much but they cannot be together. Though he doesn’t want to hurt Helen, he has to make a go of it with Jess. Helen cannot listen to any more.
