Radio Times: Vicky has news for Hayley and Freddie delivers a parcel.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Elizabeth is trying to talk to Roy about clearing up after Loxfest but is having little success. The air is frosty to say the least. Roy says that he just can’t carry on like this, that all he wants is to be left alone to get on with his job.
  • Vicky packs Mike off to work, ably assisted by Beth. After he has gone, she complains to Hayley that Mike hasn’t fully recovered from his back problem, but won’t listen to the idea of retirement. Hayley suggests that they get in extra help. Vicky takes her inside, to share with her, her plans for moving to Birmingham. Hayley of course sees her reasoning but is left shocked, but with permission to share the news with Roy.
  • Elizabeth pursues Roy who admits that he is head over heels in love with her. They end up in an embrace which is broken just in time for Freddie to wander in dressed only in underwear. Elizabeth insists that he go and put on a pair of jeans at least. He exits and Roy sees no option but to go home and return on Monday to start his life at Lower Loxley afresh. He leaves… and a very solitary Elizabeth breaks her heart.
  • A distraught Elizabeth is again disturbed by her son. She swears that there is nothing wrong: she is just tired and missing Nigel. She asks him to run down to the car park and give Roy an important envelope of work papers and a key before he leaves for home. In the car park, Roy receives a call from Hayley, eager to discuss the matter of the move. But Roy is obviously miles away. She senses something is not right but shares her news with him.
  • Sometime later, Roy and Mike discuss the move. Mike insists that nothing is decided. Roy explains that the news isn’t great timing for him. He admits that his life is in a mess but tells Mike that it is nothing at all to do with him and Hayley and it’s nothing that he can’t handle.
  • Freddie drops by at home to see Roy. He finds only Hayley. Elizabeth has asked him to bring an envelope home containing urgent work stuff; he needs to open it immediately… In fact, it seems to have come unsealed for out drops… a locket. He said his mother said it was important. Hayley is mortified. Just why has Elizabeth sent Roy a heart-shaped locket?
