  • Over breakfast, Hayley reminds Roy about their date that evening. Roy has forgotten another family event because of his preoccupation with work but he promises that he will be there.
  • Elizabeth argues with Freddie but he angrily refuses to apologise to Charlie Thomas for throwing the brick. Freddie is furious because he was taken down to the police station. In frustration, Elizabeth declares Freddie is grounded and will also lose his allowance. The arguing turns to Elizabeth’s neutrality over Road B. Freddie shouts that Nigel would have opposed the road and stood shoulder to shoulder with Uncle David.
  • Emma is thrilled to wear her new dress from Ed to The Bull. Ed surprises her with another small gift, a pearl pendant.
  • Elizabeth is upset and confides in Roy. Freddie must apologise but she doesn’t know how to make him do it. He doesn’t understand that every decision she makes is to preserve his inheritance and Nigel would have wanted that.
  • Mike has been sleeping when Hayley wakes him to confirm he will mind Abbie at night. She is looking forward to reconnecting with Roy because he has been working such long hours lately. Mike complains that he just doesn’t have his old stamina. Vicky wants him to retire.
  • Roy tries to talk to Freddie but Roy loses his temper while defending Elizabeth. A shouting match ensues and Roy tells Freddie that Nigel would want him to support his mother. Apparently, Roy reached Freddie because he does decide to apologise. Elizabeth thanks Roy for his help and expresses her helplessness when it comes to raising a fatherless boy. Roy declares his dedication to Elizabeth and her children and offers to leave Hayley. Elizabeth refuses to discuss this. While Roy is playing the father figure to Freddie and professing his love to another woman, Hayley is waiting alone in The Bull. Roy finally turns up but Emma notes he looks unhappy. Ed confesses that he feels a failure for being unable to support his family but Emma insists that he and the children are all she ever wanted. They are happy together.
