Radio Times: Roy is settling in, but Lewis is feeling tetchy.

  • Great! Caroline has agreed to Roy staying at Lower Loxley to help Elizabeth for another week. Elizabeth admits to Jill that she is anxious about the inquest next week; she knows she doesn’t have to go but she doesn’t want later to regret not going.
  • Bert has heard rumours that Elizabeth is going to lay people off but she assures him they will just be a bit slow in taking on casuals. He is also concerned about the future of the allotments but is told they are safe. Elizabeth thinks Roy has made a good job preparing the ballroom for tonight’s meeting and Roy admits to feeling energised by the change of scene. He also has interesting ideas about attracting a younger public.
  • Jill has persuaded a reluctant Freddy to have a milk shake; then Lewis turns up, clearly at the end of his tether – a combination not feeling well and having to deal with an over-fussy artist in the gallery. He is rather sharp with Freddy and is duly told off by Jill.
  • Later he finds Freddy in the stables with Cranford Crystal and apologises; he realises he is being a grumpy old man but doesn’t seem to be able to stop. Like everyone else at Lower Loxley he is just doing his best.
