Rumours about Justin’s plans for Bridge Farm are being spread and exaggerated by Susan.

Radio Times: Susan makes enquiries, and Lily tries to keep her mum calm

Characters: Elizabeth, Freddie, Jennifer, Johnny, Lilian, Lily, Susan

• Jennifer and Lilian appear to be talking about the outcome of the election but are actually talking about her bathroom renovation. Lilian has had to sack the plumber. She wishes she’d never started the whole project and Jennifer thinks Mrs May will be thinking something similar.
• Elizabeth is still fussing about Freddie being at the festival and missing his exams. She still thinks she should have gone down there or called the organisers to get them to find him. Lily tells her that would be a really bad idea. She’ll keep checking his Instagram so they know he is still alive. Elizabeth isn’t convinced but Lily says they need to go out together for a walk.
• Johnny and Freddie are having a great time and they’ve met some nice girls from the campsite. Johnny’s arranged for them to meet up. Meanwhile Freddie appears to have found some drugs.
• Susan tries to interrogate Elizabeth about Justin’s plans but Lily drags her mother out of the shop to see a photo that shows them Freddie is okay. Elizabeth says he may be fine now, just wait until he gets home.
• Freddie is over the top excited. He wants to stay at the festival forever. His life at home is a waste and he’s not doing that anymore. Johnny is still vaguely in control but Freddie is losing it a bit. He thinks he is in love with a girl called Bonnie. He wants Johnny to move out of the tent so he can spend the night with Bonnie. He’s begging him. Johnny says he’ll find somewhere.
• Jennifer also sees Susan at the shop and Susan has another go at extracting information about what is happening at Bridge Farm. Having heard the rumours, she pops round to the Dower House on the pretence of bringing tile brochures but asks if it is true that Justin is planning a huge housing estate of at least 50 houses on Bridge Farm land. Lilian says she’s heard nothing about it. Susan must have been having delusions. If there were any truth in it Justin would have told Lilian, surely.
