Ruth and David try to come to terms with the miscarriage.

  • David is trying to spoil Jill but she is still trying to help. Ruth is resting after her miscarriage. David is worried about her and Jill is worried about David. He thinks it’s so cruel and he can’t help worrying if was to do with her helping with the lambing. Jill says there is no point worrying. It could have happened for any number of reasons and these things sometimes happen.
  • Tom is getting involved in the paperwork now his pigs have movement restrictions on them. He certainly isn’t looking forward to lunch with his parents but he tries to cheer up.
  • Kenton tells Jolene about Ruth. She is sympathetic but the pub is busy. When Tom comes in he tries to use him as an alibi but Jolene isn’t listening. Later, Jolene talks to Tom and he does point out that the spiking of the drinks was aimed at him, not Kenton and says it was Rob that did that and who put him on the train.
  • Ruth insists they carry on as planned and go to The Stables for lunch. She just wants to get back to normal. David has a present for her. He was debating whether to give it to her at all. It’s a pendant of peas in a pod but she won’t put it on and pretends nothing has changed, 3 weeks ago they hadn’t even thought of another baby but she is clearly upset.
  • David wonders if Ruth should have counselling. Jill says they are both hurting and it’s natural. He should tell Ruth how he feels and David admits he hasn’t. Jill says it will be him Ruth wants to share it with.
