Radio Times: Kathy uncovers the truth and Ruth hatches a plan.

  • Hard to believe but Oliver has shirked his milking duty because – wait for it – he is standing over the oven waiting for his bread. Fortunately Mike has made a start and he doesn’t seem in a hurry to go home.
  • Ruth is taking Ben to see Freddie but Tig can’t go – nor, of course, can David.
  • There’s a hot reception awaiting Jamie: Kathy knows he has not been in college for two days. He explains that he has been on an advanced chain-saw course that Mike told him about; he has funded it from his ‘driving fund’ and it was brilliant. It was only two days and he is still committed to college. Kathy is upset that Jamie went behind her back. Jamie takes the tongue-lashing with minimal resistance.
  • Ed and David have a badger conversation; David can hardly believe that he is paying somebody to feed snacks to badgers on his land. Tonight the traps will be closed and then the badgers will get, as James Herriott might put it, a jab in t’arse. David would gladly give them shotgun pellets instead, if he were allowed to.
  • Ruth reports that she has fixed it for David. Lewis has checked Elizabeth’s diary and she will be out on Thursday afternoon. David is a bit worried – as well he might be – about going behind her back, but he really would like to see Freddie.
