Brian is looking forward to Thursday’s NFU dinner when the speaker will be an economist; Adam is going too, so he can translate.
• As they drive to the hospital, Clarrie and Nic have time to catch up. Nic is pleased that Jolene is so enthusiastic about the Farmhouse Breakfast week. Clarrie reports on Joe’s successes with planting mistletoe in the trees of townies – long term Ambridge folk know better. His chanting is based on Jim Lloyd’s druid research, though the Prof seems less than pleased by it all. On the way home, mercifully free of her plaster, Clarrie is keen to have Nic and Will for a meal to thank her for all her help.
• David’s problems as a wedding organiser mount. Will the DJ or the band end the evening? Has the ice sculpture been ordered? Nigel’s filing system is as idiosyncratic as the man himself. Lewis ventures to suggest that they should get in a professional manager. No! David insists that Elizabeth wants him to do it. Oh really? Has she said so? Lewis renews his offer to help, though there seems more chance of hell freezing over than David accepting, lest it make him look a failure.
