Radio Times: Emma faces a quandary and Fallon’s news is out.

  • Susan suggests that Ed, Emma and the children should move in with her and Neil to save rent until they are back on their feet again. Emma finds it a tempting offer, but is sure that Ed will refuse; he will see it as charity, and soon everyone in the village would know why they had moved there.
  • Jolene is delighted to hear that Fallon and Rhys are an item and that Lynda is so impressed with their acting that she has given them another scene; one which culminates, of course, in a kiss. Rhys is meant to be cooking Sunday lunch for Fallon, but she thinks it more likely they will be eating in The Bull, since Rhys is not yet up and about. Neil calls in for a drink, on his way to see Mike about the tree dressing, and remarks on Ambridge’s latest romance. He heard about it from Susan, who saw Fallon leaving Rhys’ flat, so the whole of Ambridge will surely know by now.
  • Susan continues to press Emma into accepting her offer, but they are interrupted by Ed’s return. Hastily changing the subject, Susan asks Emma if she wants to come Christmas shopping on Tuesday. Poor Emma starts to say no, but Ed tells her she must go.
  • After Susan leaves, Emma tells Ed about the offer. Just as she thought, Ed is adamant; they will stay at Rickyard Cottage and try to get through their problems. Emma is angry but comes to see how Ed feels. He remembers how near they came to breaking up when they lived in the caravan. Emma asks him to think about it, but gets no reply.
  • After a day spent making Christmas puddings with Nic, George tells his grandparents that he made a wish; that Ed and his mother would win the lottery. Susan suggests that he keep this wish a secret.
  • Emma tells Ed that George wants to spend Christmas Eve at Will’s. Ed is upset. He knows it will be a miserable Christmas with no money. Emma makes one last attempt at persuading him to take up Neil and Susan’s offer. This time Ed agrees to think about it.
