• Alistair gives Bartleby the once over as Joe continues to have concerns about his lethargy. Having eliminated problems with his teeth and arthritis, Alistair is stumped and diagnoses depression, but Joe is sceptical.
• Eddie has wind of Kirsty’s organised charity walk. Part of her planned route will give folk an unrestricted view of where they currently keep the pigs – on a site of special scientific interest, packed with rich grazing relished by the pigs. While Eddie worries that Kirsty may report them to Natural England, Clarrie worries that Oliver will evict them for damage to property. She would rather own up to Kirsty but Joe has an idea to separate off the damaged area with fencing.
• Lilian and Jolene enjoy a day at the races and Jolene updates her friend on the Toby’s gin business – and his ailing love life. Lilian has worries of her own about how much the divorce proceedings seem to be upsetting Justin. Their conversation is interrupted by Matt’s arrival who offers unsolicited advice on Lilian’s choice of bet, and when she loses, returns to gloat and offer another tip. Unperturbed, Lilian reminds Matt she has not lost her own money – but his.
• Gem is proving a handful and gives Shula the slip to reach the paddock, preferring the outdoors. She certainly has plenty of spirit. This gives Shula an idea that may help Bartleby and she phones Eddie to ask for his help in hatching a plan to surprise Joe.
