There is an inwelcome new resident at The Lodge and an equally unwelcome caller at The Dower House.

Radio Times: Peggy surprises her family

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Alice takes Peggy to the hairdresser, but is surprised as she fetches her after the appointment to see that Peggy has a cat carrier plus resident cat. Hair stylist Fabrice has split from his partner and is not allowed pets in his new abode, so Peggy will give Hilda Ogden a home.
  • Brian and Justin take a look at Berrow Farm. While they have let a couple of small business units, much of the former mega-dairy stands empty, though Justin is upbeat about the future despite losing the Ramsbury broiler house. Something will come up. Has Justin been attending one of Kate’s Yoga classes? asks Brian.
  • In Justin’s absence, Miranda calls at the Dower House to retrieve some figurines, and orders Lilian to wrap them for her. Annoyed by Miranda’s presumption and condescension, Lilian takes pleasure in telling Miranda that they were bought from antique specialist Albert Horobin at the Borchester Mop Fair. Miranda is duly taken in and after bestowing some barbed comments about Lilian’s taste in interior design, and a warning that becoming Justin’s wife will leave a vacancy for him to take another mistress, she departs for London.
  • Hilda Ogden establishes herself at The Lodge, but not until she has scratched both Alice and Chris. When Brian appears with a book from Jennifer, he, too, has to introduce himself to the ferocious feline, and is duly rewarded with another scratch.
  • When Justin returns, Lilian tries to make light of Miranda’s visit. Justin then spots the figurines matt insisted upon returning. Lilian says she has decided to sell them on, but Justin wants to keep them; a Dresden shepherd and shepherdess could be him and Lilian, living in a rural idyll.
