Tom is not happy about love rivals. Kate is not happy about land sales.

Radio Times: Kate discovers the truth and Philip has a request

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Adam delivers a combine for Josh’s Open Farm Sunday machinery trail and encounters a very dismal Tom, who suggests that the contamination would deter visitors to Home Farm. Harrison is still desperate for players, but Rex and Tom are too busy. Maybe Toby would play.
  • On his way to discuss the land sale, Brian finds Kate, who claims to be still jet-lagged, though her stated need for a breakfast-time Brandy might indicate that her condition has other contributory factors. She has had yet another cancellation, but Brian is unsympathetic. She wants Brian to look at her photos of Arizona, but he is too busy seeing the land agent. Instead, she orders him to take Adam’s flask to the poly-tunnels. When Kate complains that she has nothing to do, Brian suggests that she might deliver the flask.
  • Seeking solace in The Bull, Tom learns that Hannah, Jazzer and Pip are coming. Doubtless still smarting from Hannah’s rejection, Tom’s misery descends to new depths as Philip and Kirsty arrive. At first Philip makes polite conversation about the new houses on Bridge Farm land, but adds that he believes Tom said something about him to Kirsty. Tom truculently declares that he doesn’t want to see Kirsty messed about, to which Philip retorts that the wedding which never happened might fall into that category. Tom stomps out, saying he will come back when it’s quieter.
  • Kate duly delivers the flask and is surprised to see Toby picking strawberries. She informs Adam that he should be recruiting students and offering them cinema vouchers and gym passes. Adam considers her idea, whereupon Kate tries to ‘borrow’ money from him. Unaware that Brain has not yet told Kate which land is for sale, Adam inadvertently lets slip the fact that it is the land surrounding the yurts. Exit Kate in a raging temper.
  • Returning to his seat next to Kirsty, Philip dismisses his exchange with Tom and says that he feels things are going well with their relationship. Kirsty agrees, somewhat weakly. Philip thinks it’s time they met each others’ families. Kirsty consents even more weakly.
  • Kate storms in on Brian, followed by a remorseful Adam. She rages at Brian, who tries in vain to point out that they had to hold the meeting and that Kate was notified. Kate accuses him of sending her to Arizona deliberately, and forbids her father to sell the land. With just a hint of glee, Brian informs her that it is too late; he has just shaken on the deal. As Kate storms off, a shaken Adam apologises for telling her the news. ‘She’ll come round; you’ll see,’ replies Brian.
