Tom is still completely depressed about the business.

Radio Times: Mike and Clarrie’s plans are put to the test.

Characters: Brenda, Clarrie, Mike, Neil, Sid, Susan, Tom

• Tom is still being a complete misery despite it being his birthday. Brenda can’t even persuade him to go to Susan and Neil’s party
• Susan and Neil are still managing to keep up the pretence about their joint surprises though Sid nearly lets the cat out of the bag. Mike manages to get him to the party with some subterfuge involving a broken down van but in the end he manages it. But in the end it’s a wonderful evening.
