  • Tom tells Pat and Tony that Brian’s agreed to sell to him, and he’s got a new silent partner putting up the money. But he refuses to name Matt, at least for a few days; claiming he doesn’t want to jinx things. After Tom’s left, Tony says they should trust him; anyone would be better than Brian.
  • Pip tells Mum off; her packed lunch’s fruit juice’s cranberries come from more than five miles away. Later, Pip asks Tony to include her and Sally’s food within five mile for Lent leaflets. He agrees, but makes Pip realise that if it was done all the time, farmers in the developing world wouldn’t have buyers, and fair trade wouldn’t work. She’s pleased; it means she can start snacking on Brazil nut cookies again.
  • Tom tells Brenda over a late dinner he hopes mum and dad will forget Matt the evil landlord, he’s a decent bloke. Why hasn’t Matt got back to him though? He left messages that Brian’s agreed to sell. Brenda dissuades him from phoning again at this hour. No, you’re right, says Tom, it isn’t amateur hour with Brian. A serious player like Matt wanting to invest is vindication of his beliefs; he needs to play it cool and wait for Matt to get back to him. Bound to happen in the next few days.
