Tony decides to buy a suckler herd without even mentioning it to Tom or Pat.

Radio Times: Ruth makes an offer, and Tony is in determined mood.

  • The refugee sheep are doing fine. Jill, however, still seems very down. Ruth still wants her to come to stay at Brookfield. David isn’t so sure. Ruth thinks he’s avoiding the issue. Kenton turns up with some laundry and admits Jolene isn’t impressed with him. The flooding was his fault.
  • At the market later, Tony asks after Jill as well. David wonders if he is worried about Peggy being on his own but he says no. Peggy under the same roof would be a recipe for disaster. Tony is still talking about buying suckler calves. David warns him off – it’s too much of a commitment. But Tony is determined. He isn’t even going to ask Pat or Tom. And after a chat with Eddie, he even finds an organic suckler herd ready to buy and is going to see them this afternoon. David agrees to go with him but still isn’t convinced it’s wise.
  • Jill rings later and is pleased that Ruth has arranged for Kenton to go and tidy the garden. Ruth says she needs to pop round. She has something she needs to do too. She rings David to pester him again about inviting Jill. Ruth practically threatens him into it so he reluctantly agrees to a couple of weeks.
  • Jill tells Kenton he needs to make things up to Jolene. Jill tells him all he needs to do for a change is to be reliable. Ruth suggests some flowers for Jolene might help. While Kenton is away buying them, Ruth manages to stumble into asking Jill to come to stay and she grabs at the chance.
