Tony takes a new approach to life. Jim suggests a new approach to business.
Radio Times: Tony reflects upon the new situation and Joe faces opposition to his money-making scheme.
Characters: Clarrie, Eddie, Jim, Joe, Pat- Clarrie calls on Pat. She hopes to be back at work soon, especially knowing how busy the family must be trying to help Elizabeth. She is keen to hear about Helen and Henry, and comments rather sadly that babies often bring a family together. In her case she has seen very little of Emma recently.
- Eddie is sceptical about Joe’s plans to sell mistletoe kits, but Joe things there are plenty of gullible idiots in Grange Spinney and Jim Lloyd has helped with research, which must help.
- Tony is eager to get to the hospital again. He shows Clarrie some photos, and says Henry is the most beautiful baby in the world. On the way there, he apologises to Pat for his attitude to Helen and her pregnancy. With a singular lack of grace, and a certain re-writing of history, Pat tells him he is entitled to his own opinion. But to Tony, nothing else matters.
- Clarrie meets Jim, who tells her he sees why Alistair married Shula; she is a tower of strength. He is interested to hear that she used to go out with Nigel and full of praise for the whole family as they rally round to support Elizabeth.
- Eddie’s views on the mistletoe kits are proved correct; sales are very poor. But Jim tells Joe that he has done further research, particularly on the ways in which mistletoe featured in Druidic ritual. Maybe this is the approach Joe needs to take.
