Characters: David, Kathy, Mike, Pat, Sid, Tony
- Tony is, again, praising David for his continued help, although he’s still not over the trauma. His dairy herd is doing splendidly, indeed, a few year’s ago he would have done anything for the current figures, but somehow his, and Pat’s, motivation has gone. They meet later with Underwoods, who want more yoghurt and a greater range of products, so hopefully the drive will return.
- While he and Pat were out, Tony had asked David to remove the Fergie from the site of the crash, where it still lay. The vintage tractor club are collecting it on Friday and David’s agreed to store in at Brookfield until then. Unfortunately Pat and Tony arrive back early and Mike and David haven’t finished clearing it. It wasn’t damaged enough to be undrivable but it stalled in front of the Bridge Farm yard and is immobile.
- Tony had been trying to avoid Pat seeing the tractor, but she does. Its state shocks her. It’s so undamaged – only a little dent – and she’s surprised at the absurd notion that it killed her son.
- Kathy’s teaching and Sid is left, literally, holding the baby. Jamie’s in the bar all day, watching Teletubbies videos and throwing beer mats around, and at the end of the day Sid is convinced that they can’t repeat the day – alternative arrangements have to be made.
