Kenton accepts the loan grudgingly. Pip and Ruth agree she should move into Rickyard.
Radio Times: Is Kenton ready to accept help? Neil is dressed to impress.
Characters: Jolene, Kenton, Neil, Pip, Ruth, Susan- Jolene wakes Kenton up with a bacon sandwich. It’s to celebrate him accepting the loan. She’s invited all the family over for lunch so he can tell them. He still keeps saying they need to find the money somewhere else, he can’t bear being in David’s debt.
- Ruth apologises to Pip for getting annoyed about the trackway and the ewe hoggs. She says it is hard to let children grow up. Heather cried when Ruth left Northumberland. Pip says she’s got used to living in the dining room but Ruth says she has an idea.
- Susan tries to sort Neil out for his meeting with Charlie Thomas. She thinks he is nearly as bad as Joe growing his tomatoes in sewage. Susan doesn’t like the idea of human sewage but Neil says they’ve been growing tomatoes in manure for years. She reminds Neil to ask for at least £5k. When Neil gets back from the meeting he teases Susan by dragging out what had happened. And then he tells her that Charlie Thomas says Justin Elliott says that renovating the village hall is exactly the sort of thing that he is interested in. He thinks they should go for a brand new state of the art hall with a gym and a nursery and a screening room. The trick is, Justin Elliott wants it named after him. Neil can’t see that being a problem …
- Jolene has arranged for Jill and David to arrive early to talk to Kenton before the children arrive so he can very begrudgingly accept the loan. They shake hands on the deal. Jill says Kenton has made her very happy.
- Jolene tells Kenton she is proud of him. Kenton says it means nothing. He didn’t want to shake his hand and didn’t want his money but he’ll be paying him back with interest.
- Ruth, David and Pip have made up as she heads back up to Prudhoe. And finally they realise that Pip should move into Rickyard …
