Tom, Roy and Helen try to help Kirsty with the grief of losing the baby and Eddie wants Clarrie to rent the extra room for cash.

Radio Times: Tom struggles to accept the truth, and Eddie and Clarrie lock horns.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Eddie and Clarrie discuss the leaving plans of their guests. They are both pleased with the success of the visit. They have all that space going to waste and it was nice to fill it with appreciative folk. Lynda needs help and she wants Eddie to come right away to fix her guttering.
  • Tom arrives at the hospital and Roy has to confirm that the baby is gone. Tom asks the gender and Roy replies it was a boy. There was an infection and there was nothing to be done. Roy encourages Tom to go in to see Kirsty.
  • Eddie returns home after seeing Lynda and Clarrie shows him what she found when cleaning the beds. The guests have left £100 with a note saying that it is less than they would have paid for a B&B but they were treated just as well. Clarrie doesn’t want to keep the money but Eddie argues they would be insulted since it was a thoughtful gesture. Clarrie gives in-just this once.
  • Kirsty is sleepy but she awakens to see Tom at her side. She should be able to go home later although Helen has brought toiletries. Kirsty tries to ask about Scotland but Tom insists on apologizing. Kirsty says they really don’t belong together although this was the worst outcome. Kirsty then asks if Tom has seen the baby. Tom isn’t sure about going but asks if they should go together. Kirsty says no and tells Tom to go now. Outside the room, Tom asks Helen to go with him to see the baby and she says of course she will.
  • Clarrie shows Eddie the Valentine’s card that Keira has made. George seems much happier, too, these days. Then Eddie makes his move: perhaps they could begin renting out the room regularly. They would make extra money and wouldn’t have to worry about the rent each month and Clarrie is so good at it. Clarrie is firm; it is not their home and it would not be right.
  • Kirsty doesn’t want to go back to Liverpool with her mum. She doesn’t want to be a burden and her mum tends to worry too much. Helen stresses that Kirsty doesn’t have to do anything she doesn’t want to. Kirsty talks a bit about how strange she feels and Helen tries to be supportive. It’s over, says Kirsty. I will be okay; it just wasn’t meant to be.
