  • Rob is interviewing Charlotte, a potential nanny for the boys. With the details of the job description agreed, Charlotte is bold enough to directly ask about the reports she has read in the press. Rob’s portrayal of Helen’s declining mental health guarantee a sympathetic response from Charlotte, who Rob feels could be exactly what he is looking for.
  • Oliver is inspecting the workmanship at Grange Farm and is less than impressed at the slow progress, so will chase the builder up. He and Joe reminisce over the history of the land and how the farm came to be, over a long time. A lifetime in fact, which, for Joe will soon draw to a close and his one wish would be to end his days at Grange Farm. Oliver is rather lost for words, but contrary to expressing a morbid outlook, Joe is simply facing facts in view of his age. He would hate his restless soul to wander the earth in search of peace, were he to die ill at ease in his surroundings. William arrives to collect Joe, which puts an abrupt end to Joe’s musings, but Oliver promises to reflect on Joe’s thoughts.
  • William is pleased with this year’s birds, due for inspection by Justin Elliott tomorrow. Unbeknown to William, his father is about to undermine him. Under the guise of ‘foraging’, Eddie is teaching George about poaching, an integral part of George’s ‘family heritage’. Eddie plans to poach some birds tonight, but urges George not to say a word to his Mum, Edward and especially his Dad.
  • Between nanny interviews and helping Henry make a crown fit only for first prize, Rob has time to generously offer some free coaching at nets practice. A less than enthusiastic Harrison agrees, but it’s clear that neither he nor other team members want to hang around in the bar afterwards to share a pint with Rob.
