  • Alice is doing the cooking at the vicarage but somehow it isn’t working out quite the way it does at home – ready grated parmesan for goodness sake! Alan is still trying to encourage her to talk to her parents but isn’t getting anywhere.
  • Brian doesn’t know how long Alice is going to carry on the way she is. Jennifer thinks it might still be a matter of time. But Jennifer doesn’t know how long she can keep going with Ruairi, it’s such a strain.
  • Jennifer has another go at trying to talk Alice round when she comes to see Spearmint. She does manage to say she doesn’t blame Jennifer but she really doesn’t think Brian has any excuse. And she refuses another invitation to supper.
  • Alan and Brian have a chat at the cricket. Maybe Ruairi seems to be settling a little. And Jenny is planning to bring over a bit of a picnic to help out. Jenny thinks Alice might be improving a little – but how much that is a good sign is hard to tell. Brian is more optimistic than Jennifer but she points out it’s only with her that Alice is less resentful.
