Adam and Ian hear more about adoption. Bert and Joe hear more about Cecil

Radio Times: Adam and Ian have a memorable encounter. Tony has important news

Characters: , , ,
  • Adam and Ian join the adoption meeting. Ian is nervous and he meets another couple who are also unsure. It turns out their friend is the reason they have a cancellation slot – she found out she was pregnant. And the other couple have also spent a weekend at Kate’s Spiritual Home. Adam spits out his coffee at the idea that she is a very grounded woman.
  • Bert is impressed at the work Johnny is doing – even if he is getting a bit over confident. Bert thinks the work at Home Farm will be the making of him. Tony offers him a pint at The Bull but Bert has something to do first.
  • Adam and Ian carry on talking to the couple they met at the adoption meeting. The husband is keen but the wife seems concerned about the problems some of the children face. Ian and Adam are more positive. A scary prospect but the children need help.
  • Joe suggests to Bert that they should lay traps to stop Cecil winning the classes; they should only enter classes with their best chance. Bert isn’t keen. He thinks entering fewer categories won’t help them win. And how would they decide who has the best? Joe, of course, thinks all of this should be the ones to enter. Then Tony comes back from the bar. Cecil, apparently, doesn’t look well. He’s been to the Doctor and has said to Jolene that he doesn’t think he is long for this world. So they talk about pulling out of some categories to give Cecil a chance of a final win.
  • After the session, Ian and Adam talk in the car park. Adam is clearly more interested after the session and they agree to keep in touch with the other couple. It would be a life changing thing. A lot to think about it. Ian is struck by the sadness in the meeting but Adam says given the family and friend support they have in Ambridge he can suddenly see the possibilities
