Alan has to face his critics. Clarrie puts her foot down.

Radio Times: Alan awaits judgement in church.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Alan finds the Sunday service difficult following the Echo article. He thinks some of his flock are avoiding him. Clarrie makes a point of saying that she supports him and Usha, but then Jill says much the same – and Alan realises that she doesn’t know it was her own daughter who put the boot in.
  • Joe and Eddie make plans for their Farm Sunday open day. The only problem is Clarrie, who has already said she’s too busy. Eddie thinks he can soften her up with a bottle of wine for her birthday lunch.
  • Usha is surprised and a little embarrassed when Jill calls with some bedding plants. Usha, too, realises that Jill is in the dark about what Shula has done, and doesn’t know what to say to her.
  • Far from softening Clarrie up, Eddie meets with a stone wall. No means No, says Clarrie. Joe has already put posters up … but Clarrie refuses even to discuss it.
  • Alan and Usha mull over the morning. At least the Bishop is behind them, but Alan is concerned that Jill will feel such a fool when she does discover the truth. Usha is worried that they will have to leave Ambridge, but Alan is convinced the worst is over, and they should now just get on with it.
