Brenda impresses Matt. Fallon hopes to impress Ed. Mike is not impressed with the price of houses.

Characters: Brenda, Fallon, Matt, Mike, Tony

• Brenda and Fallon discuss Emma’s date; they’re pleased to see her looking so much happier. A call from Matt interrupts them; he needs to discuss something with Brenda. She’s sure she’s in trouble.
• Tony and David organise another fishing trip for the children, but both of them are really too busy. They wonder whether Kenton might take it over. Mike arrives, and they gently tease him about Wendy. Later, Mike tells Tony about the theatre date. Neither of them is into culture, and Mike’s rather anxious about it.
• A worried Brenda finds Matt. Far from being in trouble, she’s in Matt’s good books. Her work on the planning application paid off, and they got permission for the starter homes. He tells her he noticed how hard she worked on the application.
• Mike tells Tony he’s looked at houses with a view to downsizing, but hasn’t seen anything suitable, and a move wouldn’t release enough capital to help Roy or Brenda. Anyway, he doesn’t feel ready for it yet.
• Matt takes Brenda for a celebratory drink, and tells Fallon how impressed he is with Brenda. Fallon comments that he’ll lose her when the university term starts. Matt seems to have another plan in mind.
• Fallon has bought Ed a 1980’s Transformer for his birthday. She shows it to Brenda, who thinks it’s great. But Fallon wonders whether it’s too much just for a mate. Brenda quickly reassures her; Ed will love it.
