  • What a mess! Adam is surveying the scene at Brookfield. He has kindly brought some straw and has another try to turn David away from giving evidence: these guys really mean business. David stands firm. The police are maintaining a presence and say they will continue.
  • At the Horrobin wedding, all is going well, except that the father of the bride hobbled down the aisle: he had tripped over a hamster at Tracy’s, apparently – no witnesses. But he has done his daughter proud.
  • At BL a plot is afoot: Gerry wants BL to drop Home Farm’s contract to farm the Estate land because Home Farm won’t be growing feed for the dairy – much tidier if one firm does the lot; he has already got some reputable firms to quote, and they are competitive. Brian needs time to think.
  • Keith has only just discovered that Emma was at Brookfield when the barn was torched. Emma describes her anguish when they could not find the children. He is so sorry, so very sorry, indeed a bit too sorry.
  • Brian is confident. By all means let it be discussed it at the next Board meeting. He thinks Home Farm offers the best deal and if they want to put it out to competitive tender, bring it on. Annabelle is not so convinced; she will send him the other quotes.
  • Emma has been thinking – putting two and two together and reaching a very unpalatable conclusion. Here is the evidence:
    • Uncle Keith has an ankle injury with a rather flimsy explanation.
    • Uncle Keith left the boys’ party early.
    • Uncle Keith was uncommonly sorry when he learnt that Emma and family were at Brookfield on the night of the fire.
    • On top of which he has just funded a wedding that, a little while ago, he didn’t know how to fund.
    Surely not?
