Brian tries to press Jennifer for a decision but she is still worried about what people will think. Lilian isn’t impressed to find out Matt won’t dance with her because she’s not as good as his ex wife.

Radio Times: Lilian’s in the mood for dancing.

Characters: Brian, Jennifer, Lilian, Matt, Roy, Sid

• Lilian is getting dressed up for the Grey Gables Ball. Matt isn’t so sure about sharing a table with Brian and Jennifer – he’s been in a foul mood recently.
• Brian isn’t looking forward to the Ball at all. He’s desperate to know what she is thinking and she won’t say anything. Jennifer is really worried about Alice. She can’t have her exams messed up and it’s bound to upset her. And what about people in the village? Brian doesn’t think anyone will judge Jennifer but she thinks they will all be sniggering behind her back. And they are going to be very elderly before he grows up. But when it comes down to it, Brian thinks if Siobhán dies and he doesn’t care for Ruairidh, he will never be truly happy again.
• Brian is miles away at the dance. Not really focussing on anything. He is forced to dance with Lilian. While Jennifer challenge Matt on not dancing – it’s all Lilian wants. And she gets even crosser when Matt says Lilian is no sugar plum fairy – not like his ex wife! Gets worse when Jennifer is overheard by Lilian and she has to explain!
• Roy is trying to wheedle information out of Sid about who is going to be selected for the team. But Sid is only giving out small hints. He’ll have to wait and see.
