Charlie takes the job in Perthshire and Adam won’t tell him not to go.
Radio Times: Adam is concerned about Charlie, while Phoebe is under the spotlight.
Characters: Adam, Brian, Charlie, David, Jennifer, Phoebe- Jennifer is heading off to Oxford to pick Phoebe up from her interview. Kate can’t pick her up because the yurts are being delivered. Brian is also heading off to a conference with David. Adam and Brian still aren’t seeing eye to eye on the soil protection issues. Jennifer suggests a quiet talk with Brian. Then Adam gets a text from Charlie to hear that he is taking the job in Perthshire and is charging off.
- David is whining about how awful life is without Ruth. He was up all night looking at the milk yields. It looks like they will have no profit all year. Brian tries to cheer him up by saying something at the conference might cheer him up.
- Adam has an emotional outburst at Charlie. What does he mean he is taking the job? Shouldn’t he think about something closer to Ambridge? Charlie says they need to talk in private. Adam tries to make him think about moving to a different firm. Charlie asks if Adam wants him to stay. That might make a difference. Adam won’t say that. He just thinks he should tell Justin to get lost. Charlies says that’s not enough. He’d needs something more to stay. So Adam tells him, rather angrily, good luck.
- Phoebe thinks her interview has gone well. The others seemed more intelligent and had chaired loads of groups. But Phoebe can really see herself studying there.
- David says he feels as if he is living parallel lives with Ruth. She seems so happy in New Zealand. But they are going to need a serious talk about their future when she gets back.
- Jennifer tries to show Adam wedding hats in one of the yurts. Adam is miserable, Brian is miserable, David is miserable. Brian thinks it is a good idea that Charlie is leaving for pastures new. Jennifer thinks they will all miss him.
